TVWW's New Summer Series Sneak Peek: Part II

What will you be watching on television this summer?

Chances are it will be something that's being showcased in TV Worth Watching's round-up of new summer series.

That's right — we're showcasing some of the summer's most promising shows, and presenting you with clips of each so you can get a feel for your favorites. There's a lot to be seen, including ABC's new social media-fueled competition show, The Glass House, and Aaron Sorkin's highly-anticipated HBO drama, The Newsroom.

We have so much to show you that we had to split it into three parts. If you haven't seen Part I, it's just a click away. Part III will be up and running in a few days.

GRAVITY FALLS

Disney Channel animation; preview at 9:55 p.m. ET;
Premieres June 29 in regular slot Fridays at 9:30 p.m. ET 

City twins spend the summer in a northwest forest town "just west of weird." Voices in this animated comedy include Jason Ritter, Kristen Schaal and Linda Cardellini.

THE GLASS HOUSE

ABC competition; Mondays at 10 p.m. ET

Could viewers make a better reality series than the pros? Or a worse one? Finding out is the idea behind this live-together in which the food, clothing, games and other actions of 14 contestants are controlled by viewers through online/social networks.



FAMILY TIME

Bounce TV sitcom; Mondays at 8 p.m. ET

Omar Gooding and his urban family hit the lottery and move on up to the 'burbs. This familycom is the first scripted series for Bounce, the black-aimed digital subchannel. (Check local listings.)



HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS

Nick at Nite; Monday-Friday at 9 p.m. ET

English-speakers get their own telenovela in this weeknightly adaptation of Mexico's hot Alcanzar una Estrella, about a teenage girl who finds fame. Starring is One Life to Live teen Brittany Underwood (Langston), with Cody Longo, Jama Williamson, Carlos Ponce, Melissa Ordway, plus guest star James Franco.

BABY DADDY

ABC Family sitcom; Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET

Melissa Peterman (Reba) and Chelsea Kane (Dancing With the Stars) join Jean-Luc Bilodeau (Kyle XY) as the bachelor-with-baby title character.


INSIDE MEN

BBC America drama; Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET

Three security employees plan the perfect heist in this British series, running under the Dramaville umbrella. Features Luther's Steven Mackintosh and Warren Brown, with Ashley Walters of Outcasts.



THE SOUL MAN

TV Land sitcom; Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET

Cedric the Entertainer is cast as a one-time R&B sensation who's now a reverend riding herd on wife Niecy Nash and family.

THE NEWSROOM

HBO drama; Sundays at 10 p.m. ET

Aaron Sorkin's latest series stars Jeff Daniels as a trusted TV anchor and Emily Mortimer as his executive producer, with Sam Waterston, Olivia Munn and Dev Patel. Go behind-the-scenes here:

TWENTY TWELVE

BBC America comedy; Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET

David Tennant narrates a humorous take on the team working to stage the London Olympics, as played by Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jessica Hynes (Spaced), Olivia Coleman (Peep Show), and other familiar faces.

 

ANGER MANAGEMENT

FX comedy; Thursdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m. ET

Charlie Sheen makes his sitcom return as an ex-baseball player whose own success with managing anger makes him think he'd make a great therapist. Shawnee Smith (Becker) plays his ex-wife, with Selma Blair as his therapist/best friend. Running the show is producer Bruce Helford, who has experience with combustible stars; he once ran Roseanne (also The Drew Carey Show and George Lopez). Sheen talks about the show below:

 

BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND

FX comedy commentary; Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET

The explosive British comic tries a summer run of six shows offering his "unfiltered take on current events," with a live audience.

XIII

Reelz actioner; Fridays at 9 p.m. ET

Amnesiac secret agent Stuart Townsend finds himself enmeshed in — what else? — an international conspiracy. Also features Aisha Tyler and Virginie Ledoyen.
