1996: CBS Presents the Miniseries 'In Cold Blood'
On this day in 1996, CBS presented a miniseries version of Truman Capote's celebrated nonfiction crime novel, In Cold Blood.
The four-hour film — which starred ER's Anthony Edwards as Dick Hickock and Eric Roberts as Perry Smith and Sam Neill as Kansas Bureau of Investigation detective Alvin Dewey — was different from the 1967 film starring Robert Blake and Scott Wilson in that it focused more strongly on the killers' victims, and the police who conducted the investigation into the horrific crime.
