1995: TNT Presents 'The Wizard of Oz in Concert'
Today in 1995, TNT presented a magical musical version of the classic children's tale, The Wizard of Oz.
The Wizard of Oz in Concert starred folksy rocker Jewel as Dorothy and Joel Grey as the Wizard. The cast included Nathan Lane as the Cowardly Lion, Roger Daltrey as the Tin Man, Jackson Browne as the Scarecrow, Natalie Cole as Glinda the Good Witch and Debra Winger as the Wicked Witch of the West. The Boys Choir of Harlem portrayed the Munchkins.
The performance, taped May 5 of that year at Lincoln Center, served as a benefit for the Children's Defense Fund.
