1965: CBS Presents Barbra Streisand's First TV Special

On this day in 1965, CBS presented the musical special, My Name is Barbra. The broadcast featured 23-year-old singer Barbra Streisand, who, the previous year, had shot to national fame as the star of the Broadway musical, Funny Girl.
The hour-long special was presented in three acts and featured music from Streisand's fifth studio album, My Name is Barbra, including "People," "I am Woman" and "Don't Rain on My Parade." It garnered four Emmy nominations and earned three statuettes, including Outstanding Achievement awards for Streisand and the show's director, Dwight Hemion.
