1996: 'Sisters' Ends its Run on NBC
This day in 1996 marked the final telecast of the NBC drama, Sisters.
The series starred Swoozie Kurtz, Sela Ward, Patricia Kalember and Julianne Phillips as the Reed sisters (Alex, Teddy, Georgie and Frankie) and followed the ups and downs in the lives of the four siblings. In the fourth season, a fifth sister, Charley (portrayed by actresses Jo Anderson and Sheila Kelley), born illegitimately to the sisters' father's mistress, was introduced.
The show's supporting cast, during its six-season run, included Garrett M. Brown, Ed Marinaro, Heather McAdam, David Dukes, Ashley Judd, Paul Rudd, George Clooney, Nora Dunn, Robert Klein, Stephen Collins and Eric Close.
