1957: NBC Debuts 'The George Sanders Mystery Theater'
This day in 1957 marked the debut of The George Sanders Mystery Theater, a summer replacement series on NBC.
The half-hour mystery series was hosted by prolific character actor George Henry Sanders — best known to film buffs as Jack Favell in the 1940 Best Picture Oscar-winner, Rebecca, and Addison DeWitt in another Best Picture winner, 1950's All About Eve — and consisted of short drams featuring various guest stars. Thirteen episodes were aired.
