November 23, 2020  | By TV WW  | 1 comment

On this day in 1963, the BBC introduced the the first incarnation of Doctor Who, the British science fiction series that followed the exploits of a time-traveling alien known as the Doctor. Recognized as the world's longest-running sci-fi series, Doctor Who has legions of fans around the globe.

The show was cancelled in 1989 after a 26-season run, and was revived in 2005 as a direct continuation of the original series.

Eleven actors have played the show's title character, whose "regeneration" into a new body allows for the transition to a new actor to be part of the show.
