On this day in 1993, "King of Pop" Michael Jackson sat down for a live interview with Oprah Winfrey — his first interview in 14 years.
The 90-minute interview — which predated the image-altering allegations of child sexual abuse as well as his two marriages and fatherhood — drew 90 million viewers. During the program, Jackson talked about his childhood (or lack thereof), his relationship with his abusive father, and revealed for the first time his battle with the skin condition vitiligo.
Winfrey addressed several of the day's most popular Michael Jackson rumors, and also delved into Jackson's love life, asking who he was dating (Brooke Shields, he replied) as well as, "Are you a virgin?"
