The 2014-15 broadcast TV season begins officially tonight (Monday, Sept. 22) – and just in time, TV Worth Watching presents its annual "Fall Preview…"
A few series have been sneak previewed by their respective networks prior to the official start date – Utopia and Red Band Society on Fox, Madam Secretary on CBS – but most of the action starts this week. Tonight, in fact, comes the season’s most anticipated and buzzworthy new series: Fox’s Gotham, which premieres at 8 p.m. ET, presenting an imaginative prequel to the familiar Batman story.
By clicking on the TVWW Fall Preview box at the top right of the home page each day, you can see what our critics have to say about Gotham, and all the other shows premiering on broadcast TV this fall. We’ll be adding to those reviews frequently, so keep checking back in.
This year, our "Fall Preview" contributors include Ed Bark, Bill Brioux, Eric Gould, Ed Martin, Donna Plesh, Jonathan Storm and myself. Many of their capsule reviews are more entertaining than the shows themselves – and, as always, I’m very grateful for their continued participation in this stubbornly quality-focused experiment known as TVWW. Thanks, folks…
Every year at this time, when another fall season rolls around, I’m reminded how fortunate I am to have writers, and readers, who all feel the same way about television. We all want to find, enjoy and discuss the good stuff – no matter how much effort it takes to find it.
By the way, if you listen this afternoon to NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross, or visit the Fresh Air website after about 4 p.m. ET, you’ll be able to hear my full review of the fall season – including a clip from Gotham, and a short list of shows I recommend as being worth a sampling.
