'The Day of the Doctor' is Coming
“Great men are forged in fire, it is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame,” says actor John Hurt in the upcoming Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor, premiering November 23 on BBC America. In the special that will be simulcast worldwide, the current Doctor, played by Matt Smith, will relive the often mentioned ‘Time War’ with fan favorite 10th Doctor played by David Tennant. (TVWW readers will remember Tennant from his recent success in Broadchurch). The action packed trailer features everything you want to see in an episode of Doctor Who – breathtaking effects, beautiful companions and terrifying Daleks ("EXTERMINATE!!"). Tennant and Smith will be joined by Hurt’s Doctor, a mysterious darker version, who existed between the 8th and 9th incarnation of the legendary character. The anniversary special and the upcoming Christmas show will be the last episodes that feature Smith. Peter Capaldi (In the Loop) will take over the Tardis next season. – Al Mannarino
