’Tis the season to be generous. So today we offer a twofer -- classic ABC and CBS Christmas greetings from generations ago.
The first is a 1957 spot voiced by John Charles Daly, who’s best known as the host of CBS’ What’s My Line? but at the time was also ABC’s principal news anchor. This ABC spot offers greetings from the network’s entire stable of talent, even Zorro, Rin Tin Tin, and the Lone Ranger & Tonto.
The second is a poignant and understated 1966 CBS animated spot drawn by R.O. Blechman. It still holds up beautifully.
