Not everybody's list of film credits includes both the family fun of Santa Claus and the adult exploitation of Shanty Tramp, plus the unmistakable oeuvre of masked Mexican wrestler/superhero Santo.
But one man's does.
Learn all about the wonder world of K. Gordon Murray in preparation for watching his 1959 import of the cheesy/lavish Mexican extravaganza Santa Claus (late Friday night at 2 a.m., TCM). Sneak a peek here.
It's just one of the funky fairy tale flicks that showman Murray brought to '60s kiddie matinee crowds, the pre-video equivalent of today's public-domain DVDs bin at the dollar store. These two-bit movies weren't, uh, good, but they gave frazzled moms a couple hours to themselves while their baby boom kids cultivated all those Sno-Caps and snow cones cavities that would soon make dentistry one of the hap-happiest professions of all.
There's even more filling fun on Saturday night, and its name is Neil Patrick Harris.
NPH isn't just a comedy god on How I Met Your Mother, or a musical god in his Broadway stints, or both in Joss Whedon's online sensation Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. He's also a video game voice-god, heard in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.
Which means it makes sense when Harris plays host for Saturday night's Video Game Awards at 8 ET on Spike. Lots of other TV folks will be on hand, too -- the cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Nathan Fillion from Castle (also a VGA nominee for Halo: Reach), for starters. More details here.
