If you’re like me, you’ve watched the opening credits for HBO’s Game of Thrones for years now, trying to follow the intricate Rube Goldberg-type “living map” of the various kingdoms, and invariably getting lost somewhere along the way. Well, on a recent installment of Syfy’s The Wil Wheaton Project, the host proposed a more clear alternative: a Game of Thrones opening credits sequence that focused on people instead of places, and used a familiar TV touchstone as its theme-song inspiration, visually and musically.
