Who Called it “The Boob Tube”?
A Chinese billionaire forked over $170 million for Modigliani’s “Nu Couche” on Monday, and cable news was all over it – with digital fog, so nobody could see the nude’s naughty parts. This led Stephen Colbert to ponder the blurry line between art and porn on TV. He asked his network’s “standards and practices” division (the censors) exactly what passed muster to get to the CBS airwaves. Its answer was silly, of course, and, with slides, a pad and pen, and his always charming wit, Colbert delivered a hilarious skewering.
