Will Ferrell appeared on the Bismarck, North Dakota KXMB newscast last Saturday as guest anchor Ron Burgundy, his character from 2004’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Ferrell played it down the middle throughout the entire show, gave the straight news about Christmas shoppers and a local speed trap but veered off with a few happy-talk comments and his signature, self-important oddball cadence. The producers of the Anchorman sequel, scheduled for December 18, have trotted out pervasive, advance cross-promotion for the film with Ferrell showing up in character in all kinds of commercials and late night talk show appearances.
