The judges have nothing to do with tonight’s elimination, which is decided purely by national vote tally. Viewers, therefore, might, like the judge, be more impressed than I was by, say, Miley Cyrus “mini-me” Darby Walker singing “You Don’t Own Me,” spending more time on her makeup and bell-bottom outfit than her emotional honesty, and Aaron Gibson singing “Hurt” with more emotional honesty than vocal prowess. Those song choices, and performances, should make them vulnerable tonight, and at risk of elimination as The Voice narrows the field down to the Top 10.
