This 2016 documentary relies on vintage interview clips with Frank Zappa to tell the story of the man and his music – going so far back, with the musician who burst into counter-culture prominence as the leader of the Mothers of Invention in the 1960s, that among the earliest interviews is a TV visit with Steve Allen. Zappa is eminently quoteworthy, as when he once said, “Most rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read.”
