Like its dairy namesake, the Sixties supergroup trio Cream turned out to have a very brief shelf life. Guitarist Eric Clapton, bass player Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker released their first album, Fresh Cream, in 1966, and disbanded after Cream’s Royal Albert Hall farewell concert two years later. A TV special was built around the goodbye performance in 1967, but it took decades for a remastered and re-edited version to capture a decent version of that last onstage performance (until, that is, a one-shot reunion concert in 2005). Here is that version. It’s not exactly The Last Waltz, but with such songs as “Sunshine of Your Love,” “White Room” and “I’m So Glad,” it certainly represents the crop of the Cream.
