ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN REVISITED
June 17, 2017  | By David Bianculli  | 7 comments

MSNBC, 9:00 p.m. ET

Of all of tonight’s TV events, this is the one I’m anticipating most eagerly. Last night, ABC presented a two-hour special on the Watergate scandal, and it was very clearly structured, and at times unexpectedly emotional. Tonight, MSNBC covers similar ground, but through a particularly fascinating prism: the movie made, starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, who played Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in All the President’s Men. “Arguably the best movie on reporting made,” Hoffman says of the film, and he’s right.

I didn't realize I needed to record both episodes - I thought it was a repeat. When will this be resown?

I programmed DVR to record the special, and like some of the others, it cut off in the middle of John Dean's testimony. Very frustrated. Will this ever be repeated in its entirety?

Same thing happened to me. It will be repeated June 25th, 8pm AND 9pm, CST. Hopefully, the 9pm showing is the one everyone missed, the 2nd part.

I had the tv recording both at 8 and 9 pm. Was not sure how long this program was. It stopped at 9 pm and did not record the next hour. Also can not find a repeat of this program so what happened? It stopped mid john Dean segment

Was this a one hour or two hour special? My DVR cut off at John Dean's testimony.

It is a riveting documentary that retains much of the immediacy and pacing of the 1970s movie and the Woodward/Bernstein book. But that immediacy is also one of its weaknesses. It has a tunnel-vision quality to it. Nixon, Congress, the Supreme Court, and the President's men are dealing with so much else that is going on in the world at that time -- the Arab-Israeli War, Roe v. Wade, the first oil shock. How do these events bear down on the cast of characters and impact the way in which Watergate unfolded? Also, the documentary only occasionally gives us the perspective of 45 years on. What have subsequent presidents drawn from Watergate? What was the legacy of Watergate in terms of executive power in the George W. Bush administration after 9/11? All that said, it is a highly engaging work of film making.

I enjoyed watching ALL THE PRESIDENT's Men,and i shall be re-watching in full later tonight, because i miss 1/2. So good. Great special on MSNBC. This remind me of how TRUMP is acting like NIXON (alot) and i am sure going to be smiling when not IF,but when Donald Trump is removed from white house and to commence with impeachment, for being a fraud. and his Russia Connect, and his clear act(s)of wrongful conduct and clearly impeding/attempting to obstruct justice, with JAMES COMEY.
