THE CARMICHAEL SHOW
June 28, 2017  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

NBC, 9:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s episode, titled “Shoot-Up-Able,” originally was scheduled to be televised earlier this month – but was pulled from the schedule at the last minute, for sensitivity regarding the mass shooting at a Republican congressional baseball team practice in Alexandria, VA. That’s because this particular episode has Jarrod (Jarrod Carmichael) returning home shaken after surviving a mass shooting at a nearby mall – a brush with gun violence that has his family reacting, as usual, in very different ways.

Please watch this show now doing one new episode followed by an old repeat one at 930pm. It is so well written that even if some of the actors seem formulated just to get a reaction, the way they talk about life is so rare on primetime tv. It's Norman Lear good.
