O.J. SIMPSON PAROLE HEARING
Various Networks, 1:00 p.m. ET
This TV special event isn’t expected to last very long, but it’ll be widely available on news networks and on various live streaming websites. At 1 p.m. ET, the Nevada Board of Parole is scheduled to meet in Carson City, live and perhaps with some members video conferenced in, to rule on the possible parole of Simpson, who was sentenced in 2008 to a minimum of nine years in prison for his role in an armed robbery. Simpson, now 70, will participate by video conference from the Lovelock Correctional Center, the medium-security prison where he’s been incarcerated since his conviction. He’s expected to give a statement. He’s also expected to have earned parole, which could come as early as October. And for O.J., whose low-speed chase, trial, and verdict in his earlier trial for murder were all major media events, today’s hearing will be a measure of how much he’s remembered, famously and infamously.
