2017 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
October 20, 2017  | By David Bianculli

Fox, 8:00 p.m. ET

The New York Yankees made it to the postseason this year by barely qualifying for a wild-card game, then beating the Minnesota Twins 8-4, giving them the chance to play against the Cleveland Indians in a best-of-five American League division series. The Yankees dropped the first two games, putting the team against the wall once again – but the Yankees swept the next three games to take the series 3-2, and advance them to this current series for the AL pennant, the American League Championship Series, against the Houston Astros. The Astros took the first two games, both of them tight 2-1 affairs. But the Yankees then swept the next three games – and if the team is similarly successful in tonight’s Game 6, the Yankees will win the best-of-seven series and complete its improbable, undeniably exciting march to the 2017 World Series.
