GREAT PERFORMANCES: “NOEL COWARD’S PRESENT LAUGHTER”
November 3, 2017  | By David Bianculli

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

The first time I saw Kevin Kline was in a 1980 TV production of The Pirates of Penzance, in which his athletic and boisterous performance as the Pirate King actually stole scenes from the otherwise hypnotic Linda Ronstadt. That was, sigh, more than 35 years ago. But here we are again, Kline and I. I’m still watching him on TV, and he’s still performing: This time presenting a version of his recent Broadway performance, starring opposite Kate Burton in a comedy that’s delightfully Coward-ly. For a full review, see David Hinckley’s All Along the Watchtower. Check local listings.
