SEASON PREMIERE: Television already has given us one great attempt to appreciate the impact and artistry of John Coltrane’s saxophone skills: Ken Burns’ Jazz, in which the life and music of Coltrane was one of many memorable set pieces. Now comes John Scheinfeld’s Chasing Trane, which has the words (and liner notes) of Coltrane read by Denzel Washington, and features, in this new documentary, everyone from John Densmore of the Doors to Common, Carlos Santana, Sonny Rollins, and fellow sax player Bill Clinton.
