This week on The Voice, we’re finally down to the live shows, which puts a different type of pressure on two groups. It puts it on the remaining 12 contestants, whose fate now shifts largely from the judges to the viewers, whose vote now determines whether they will advance. And there’s a different kind of pressure on the judges, too, because now, in these live shows, their often rambling comments about the contestants, and jibes to one another, cannot be edited. Talking to time is a very different type of TV skill, and not every judge displays it.
