After the success of the original Westworld movie, which also inspired the current HBO reimagining, the AIP studio followed up with a 1976 sequel. The connecting link was Yul Brynner, reprising his role as the robot gunslinger – but this time, his adversaries were new park visitors played by Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner. Most memorable were the dream sequences, in which Danner’s character fantasized about the gunslinger – as Fonda’s character watched on a computerized “dream monitor.” Still waiting for that app…
