MISTER ROGERS: IT'S YOU I LIKE
PBS, 7:30 p.m. ET
SPECIAL: Okay, so this is another celebration of Fred Rogers and the wonderful children’s programming he created, and in which he starred. But what’s wrong with that? This month marks the golden anniversary of the premiere of Miser Rogers’ Neighborhood on public TV. This week, in particular, also happens to be a pledge break for most public TV member stations – so what better way to both remember Fred Rogers and garner support for PBS than to present a pledge-month special? This is not a biography, just a salute to the Neighborhood shows he created beginning 50 years ago. Michael Keaton, who used to work as a stagehand for the Pittsburgh-based Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, serves as host, and brings us tastes of many of the best all-time visits to the neighborhood, including Yo-Yo Ma and his son, a much younger Tony Bennett, and Koko the Gorilla, who loved to watch Fred Rogers on TV. But really, who didn’t? Check local listings.
