SERIES PREMIERE: This new AMC drama, based on the historically inspired novel by Dan Simmons, tells the story of two ill-fated sea voyages during the 19^th century, by the H.M.S. ships Erebus and Terror.  About two decades before America’s Civil War, they became trapped in the North Atlantic ice, working their way through the still-unknown lengths of the Northwest Passage. Simmons injects what may be a supernatural element, but the natural horrors are frightening enough. Ciaran Hinds and (pictured) Jared Harris play the ship’s respective captains, and this 10-part adventure plays with claustrophobia and helplessness like a Das Boot on ice.
