Back in 1993, Jurassic Park changed movie history, and elevated digital special effects to a new level, by doing on the screen what the characters played by Sam Neill and Laura Dern were witnessing as they toured the park for the first time: dinosaurs brought vividly, and convincingly, to life. The newest entry in the Jurassic Park series arrives later this month in theaters, but I can still remember the thrill of attending, with my wide-eyed young offspring, the opening-night midnight premiere of Steven Spielberg’s fantastic adaptation of the Michael Crichton story.
