SERIES PREMIERE: In one very real sense, tonight’s TV return of Candice Bergen as liberal TV newswoman Murphy Brown could be considered the show’s Season 11 premiere. But enough time has passed – 20 years, in fact – that this new Murphy Brown, with original series creator Diane English writing tonight’s return script, is in fact a different sort of animal. This time, the primary twin targets are politicians and the media, and this 2018 version of Murphy takes immediate and focused aim.
