Michael Cimino’s 1980 film has a reputation as a colossal waste of money (and, to some, celluloid), but time and perspective has given the film a brighter sheen – at least among those willing to revisit, with an open mind, the director’s cut re-edit of Cimino’s original vision. MGM shows that tonight, at full length – and with such always interesting stars as Christopher Walken, Jeff Bridges, Sam Waterston, Brad Dourif, John Hurt, Isabelle Huppert, and Kris Kristofferson.
