This 2016 movie, written and directed by the Coen Brothers, is a valentine to Hollywood -- but one which, like the film spoofs by Mel Brooks, takes deadly aim at the same movie conventions it adores. With Hail, Caesar!, whose plot covers an entire studio sound stage, the comedy covers everything from gladiator and biblical epics (cue George Clooney!) to singing sailors, with outrageously overt gay subtext. And what a cast: In addition to Clooney, this Coen Brothers comedy features Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Alison Pill, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ralph Fiennes.
