I admit it: The longer The Act goes on, the more I’m unnerved by Joey King’s performance as the infirm daughter in this fact-based Hulu miniseries, and this is episode six. As the mother, Patricia Arquette has the showier role, all frazzles and freakouts – but King, as the drama has proceeded and her character’s independence and sexuality have awakened, has gotten to play shades that you seldom see on television, of both hidden desire and seething resentment.
