In this week’s new episode, Will (David Walton) promises to look after Marcus (Benjamin Stockham) – and does so by taking him to a California pool party hosted by Lil Jon. It’s not your average pool party, though: It has tigers out of cages, and women in them.

Last week, Boyd (Walton Goggins) took the Crowes to a “business trip” that ended with a bunch of dead bodies – but Boyd, thanks to playing the Crowes as his unexpected hole card, wasn’t one of them.  Now there’s more impending death in the offing, and there’s also a missing Crowe, a case that Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) is determined to solve. And Wendy, the cleverest and prettiest of the Crowes, played by Alicia Witt, is bound to hold the key.

It’s Barney’s wedding day, and time for him, more than ever before, to suit up – but the decision is proving to be an impossible one. Of all the hangups Barney has demonstrated over the years, racks full of suits wouldn’t seem to be an imposing hangup. But here we are…

SEASON PREMIERE: The opening scene of Season 2 takes place right after the events of last season’s cliffhanger, with the murder of amorous teacher Mrs. Watson. But right after the opening credits, we shift forward a few months, where the mood is much lighter. And so is the hair of  Vera Farmiga’s Norma Bates, who’s gone platinum, much like the classic Hitchcock heroines of old.

SERIES PREMIERE: Chloe Sevigny, who last played a transgendered assassin in Hit & Miss, this time plays someone on the right side of the law – a Pittsburgh homicide detective with a tortured past and, based on the cases she investigates, a tortured present as well. Glen Morgan of The X-Files produces this new drama, which has enough edge, enough unanswered questions, and a strong enough performance by Sevigny to warrant its sampling. Tonight, David Steinberg’s guests are Bob Einstein and Eric Idle. The former, of course, was a staff writer on Season 3 of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, the year when Steinberg made his infamous “Sermonette” appearances – and Eric Idle, in Monty Python’s Flying Circus, is another playful comic who came of satiric age during about the same period. Tonight, they all reminisce.

Week 3 of Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show reign begins with two holdovers from the Saturday Night Live era: Fallon’s former “Weekend Update” co-anchor Tina Fey, and frequent early SNL musical guest Randy Newman.

SEASON FINALE: Just in case you missed it last Sunday, here’s a repeat of the episode that ends Season 4, and does so by upping its quota of imported American actors. Shirley MacLaine returns, and Paul Giamatti makes his first appearance – a shrewd one – playing another visiting American relative. Check local listings.

Ellen DeGeneres is the host this year, and the front-running films include Gravity and 12 Years a Slave. It ought to be good Oscar telecast to watch – if, that is, the latest winter storm hitting the Northeast doesn’t knock the signal off my satellite.

Most shows are offering up repeats against the Oscars, but not The Walking Dead. It’s continuing the story – which, last week, featured more reunions, more surprises, and introduced even more characters.
