Today’s the day Amazon rolls out some of its new pilots for consideration by viewers, whose votes and interest can help determine whether or not the shows go on to regular series status. In addition to a new raft of children’s shows, the new pilots include two shows aimed at more mature audiences: The Last Tycoon and The Interestings, starring Lauren Ambrose (pictured).

No, these aren’t “art films” in the old manner of semi-nude Swedish imports, like I Am Curious (Yellow). Instead, tonight’s Showtime double feature is a show all about art. Big Eyes, at 8 p.m. ET, stars Amy Adams (pictured) in a 2014 biography of Margaret Keane, the actual artist of the paintings credited to her husband. Then, at 10 p.m. ET, Helen Mirren stars in 2015’s Woman in Gold, about a woman battling to reclaim artwork seized years ago by the Nazis.

Part 4. This ESPN nonfiction miniseries took the night off last evening, rather than conflict with Game 6 of the NBA Finals. But tonight it’s back, and this particular episode is all about the O.J. murder trial – which FX already has dramatized this year, quite impressively. But now, in this recap, it’s the real deal, and people like prosecutor Marcia Clark are interviewed to offer their valuable perspectives.

With a news week such as this one, it doesn’t even matter who the scheduled guests are. What matters is Bill Maher’s take on current events, and what’s certain to be his strongly articulated outrage.

The 2016 U.S. Open leg of this year’s major golf championships begins today (and continues tomorrow) at 10 a.m. ET, with live coverage on Fox Sports 1. Its parent network, Fox, also provides coverage today and tomorrow, from 5-8 p.m. ET. The course is Pennsylvania’s Oakmont Country Club, where there are no water hazards, virtually no trees – and yet is such a difficult course that very few players are expected to break par.

The first movie leading off tonight’s mini-marathon of film musicals is 1962’s Gypsy (pictured), starring Rosalind Russell and Natalie Wood. All the other film musicals tonight are from the Sixties as well, and all are landmarks. At 10:30 p.m. ET, it’s Barbra Streisand in 1968’s Funny Girl. At 1:15 a.m. ET, it’s Zero Mostel and Phil Silvers in 1966’s A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum. And at 3 a.m. ET, it’s Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrav

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving put on quite a display in Game 5, becoming the first teammates in an NBA Finals game to score at least 40 points in the same game – and taking a game from the otherwise dominant Golden State Warriors, who now lead the series 3-2. Tonight’s game returns to Cleveland, and if James, Irving and the Cavaliers can ride home-court advantage to a victory tonight, they will have evened the series and set up an exciting Game 7 for this weekend. If not, the Warrior

SEASON FINALE: This has been an excellent season for Orphan Black, and for chameleonic star Tatiana Maslany, who this season introduced yet another character, Krystal (pictured), to her arsenal of alter egos. And tonight is the season finale, when several of those clones will end up in the same physical space, working with – or against – one another.

SEASON PREMIERE: One of the smartest, funniest and slickest streaming series ever made returns tonight for Season 8, with an episode in which Jim Gaffigan is shepherded around by host Jerry Seinfeld in a 1977 VW camper bus.

Broadcast television accomplished something quite remarkable Sunday night; something that proved there is still great life in the old “dinosaur” of media...
