Holiday movies are being celebrated, and scheduled, this month on TCM – and the party begins with this 1951 absolute classic adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale. Alastair Sims stars as Ebenezer Scrooge, with Michael Hordern as Jacob Marley, Mervyn Johns as Bob Cratchit, and Glyn Dearman as little Tiny Tim. Afterward, at 9:45 p.m. ET, comes another early film adaptation of the same story: 1935’s Scrooge, starring Seymour Hicks in the title role.

Last week, this series returned with a two-episode premiere that cast the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in space, on a ship run by malevolent blue aliens. Simmons was “adopted” by them, as a sort of slave, and tonight, Daisy takes some great risks to lead a rescue mission to rescue Simmons. But after that, what? And where? And, if time travel is a factor, when?

Tonight’s new episode, billed as the fall finale, is called “Queen Takes Knight.” The Knight may be the future Dark Knight, because the young Bruce Wayne is spiraling down a self-destructive sort of superhero rumspringa. But if so, who’s the Queen? And if the Queen refers to Falcone’s daughter, or Gordon’s ex, then who’s the Knight?

Michael Feinstein is the host for this month’s TCM salute to the Great American Songbook, which begins at 8 p.m. ET with 1948’s Words and Music. It’s a musical biopic, as they like to call it in Variety, about the life and career of songwriting duo Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. Mickey Rooney plays Hart, Tom Drake plays Rogers, and this film, in retrospect, is almost as interesting for what it doesn’t include, especially about Hart’s private life. Other films show

I’m not sure how many people have been clamoring for a Psych reunion telemovie since this lighthearted buddy comedy was cancelled three years ago – but those of you should be happy, because it’s back. At least for this one-shot sequel that picks up with the same characters, three years later, and aims, rather obviously, to give viewers more of the same. For a full review, see David Hinckley’s All Along the Watchtower.
