SEASON FINALE: My favorite current TV comedy has been known to shake things up with its season finales, and tonight’s Season 3 closer should be no exception. Not that you can tell from NBC’s official synopsis, which is playfully vague, even by Twin Peaks plot description standards. Though last week set up a replication experiment with the entirety of the afterlife hanging in the balance, tonight’s episode, called “Pandemonium,” is described only as follows: “V

Today is the centennial marking the birth of Ernie Kovacs, the brilliant TV comic and video pioneer who was one of the medium’s first and most influential mad geniuses. He was born in Trenton, NJ, on Jan. 23, 1919, started doing local TV in Philadelphia in the early 1950s, when both he and TV were very young. Tonight’s TCM tribute includes, of course, the comedian’s film work –1957’s Operation Mad Ball at 8:45 p.m. ET, 1960’s Wake Me When It’s Over at 11

If the novelty hasn’t worn off yet – and for me, I'm almost embarrassed to admit, it hasn’t – here’s another episode, and another masked contestant eliminated and revealed. Among tonight’s performing (and vulnerable) singers: the Raven and (pictured) the Bee. For the latter singer, at least, no matter who is under that mask: to Bee or not to Bee, that was the question…

What did Benito Mussolini do to become so powerful in Italy? And then, at the end, so hated that he met such a brutal fate? It’s all here, in this week’s playbook, including how Benito went finito. Check local listings.

Last Sunday, both the NFC and AFC championship games went into, and were decided in, overtime – the first time that’s ever happened to the contests deciding which teams advance to the Super Bowl. This postseason edition of Inside the NFL will have lots of time to dissect those two games, and bring us lots of exclusive sidelines footage and dialogue in the process.

SERIES RETURN: This also is a series premiere of sorts, because Conan O’Brien has made significant changes to his approach to the late-night arena. Tonight’s premiere on his TBS Conan show will be 30 minutes long, not an hour. And O’Brien is ditching his suits for more casual wear, and ditching the desk. And he’s focusing on one guest per show, with tonight’s opening guest being late-night good-luck charm Tom Hanks. Good luck, Conan…
