Technically, tonight’s episode is the season finale – but there’s one more episode to come, next week, which was presented in the U.K. as a standalone Christmas episode, as is their wont over there. Doctor Who is another example of a series that generates a Christmas Day special episode each year of late. Anyway, tonight’s episode has enough drama for a season finale, with a royal child near death, an adult character experiencing death, and more than one romance torn apar

Tonight’s second episode of Here and Now is called “Eleven Eleven,” and culminates in an epiphany of sorts as Tim Robbins’ Greg Boatwright, like one of his children, begins seeing, and being affected by, the mysteriously repeating appearances of that so-called “angel number.” Is it a sign from above or beyond? Or just a convenience store that opens late?

Last week’s season premiere ended with a shocker that basically cast members of our own military as Russian-style assassins, willing and able to use exotic toxic poisons to eliminate political enemies on contact – or with contact. So what happens now, to Carrie and others, if they dare resist this Deep State resistance? Claire Danes stars.

SEASON PREMIERE: Season 5 of John Oliver’s show begins tonight. I expect nothing less than brilliance, and outrage. But, given the news of the week he’s forced to recount and examine, will there be any actual laughs? And if so, how?

This comedy standup special, the first in a decade for Chris Rock, is available any time. It premiered earlier in the week, dropped by surprise without advance fanfare like a sassy serving of Beyoncé’s Lemonade – or, more recently, a Super Bowl-night stealth release of The Cloverfield Paradox. But it’s so good, I wanted to draw attention to it anyway, and this is my first chance. (Hey, I’ve been busy. If you want a refund of your annual TVWW subscription, just ask

You’ve got the drill by now, right? About an hour after NBC’s late-night coverage ends for the night, sister network NBCSN begins a new day of round-the-clock televising of Olympic events, with USA Network and CNBC also showing up during the day until and/or after NBC returns in the afternoon and evening – and with NBC’s Olympics website offering live coverage throughout. All that said, my own choice for today’s Olympics highlight, on all these cable outlets, is typ

On NBC tonight, the major scheduled live coverage is in men’s skiing, with the first run of men’s giant slalom in prime time during the 8 -11 p.m. ET block, and the final run set to be televised live during NBC’s late-night coverage, beginning at 11:30 p.m. ET.

Tonight’s installment, no less breathtaking than the ones before it in this fabulous series, is called “Green Seas.” It explores the patches of water where algae and seaweed and living reefs give way to an amazing abundance of life. Watch for sea otters. And moulted crabs. And Technicolor cuttlefish (pictured). And so, so much more…

Of today’s all-day alternative coverage on cable networks, the biggest draw, arguably, is the gold medal final in men’s figure skating, televised live by NBCSN between 7 and 10:10 p.m. ET. That’s in addition to all other coverage on USA, CNBC, and on NBC’s own Olympics website. Oh, and on NBC the broadcast network as well. (Details follow.)
