Some long-gone shows are even better than legend has it. Here's one -- "My Living Doll", the 1964 sitcom starring Julie "Catwoman" Newmar as a robot, with Bob Cummings as her would-be minder. Newmar's deftly innocent mis-takes on human behavior prove enduringly delightful as My Living Doll hits DVD this Tuesday. - DW

SEASON PREMIERE: Sarah Shahi returns as Kate, in a second season that pairs her with a new cast regular, Ryan Johnson, as an adversarial attorney. Sparks are supposed to fly, but in this series, Shahi flies better solo. She was, and remains, the only compelling reason to watch this show – which, otherwise, is fairly listless.

Alexandra Pelosi hasn’t made the best guest in her previous appearances here – but the closer we get to a general election, the more quoteworthy the documentary-filmmaking daughter of Nancy Pelosi becomes. She’s one of Maher’s guests tonight, along with Ed Helms, Dylan Ratigan and others.

SEASON PREMIERE: In this season opener, Mary (Mary McCormack) is back from maternity leave. And is she is softer, gentler, more nurturing mother Mary? Don’t bet on it.

(From NPR) I don't want to complain about "Frozen Planet," however, until I dish out a little praise. "Frozen Planet," which premieres this Sunday on the Discovery Channel, is the kind of program that television was made for — and, even more certainly, the kind that modern TV was made for...

Brideshead Revisited, Upstairs Downstairs, Pride and Prejudice, The Jewel in the Crown, The Forsyte Saga, Moll Flanders, Cranford and I, Claudius -- if just the titles make you sigh, then public TV has the program for you. It's The Story of the Costume Drama, a too-short hour survey of great moments in British period miniseries over the past 50 years. (Check local listings for March airings.) - DW
