I note tonight’s game just to point out that this season, with several teams still undefeated in late November and others struggling mightily, the once-cherished idea of NFL parity seems to have fallen by the sideline. The Thursday games were scheduled, and assigned to NFL Network for telecast, long before the season began – but back then, who would have thought that a contest pitting the Tennessee Titans vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars would have resulted in a game, as is the case toni

Tonight’s prime-time TCM lineup salutes early film star Douglas Fairbanks, one of the cinema’s first action heroes. First up, at 8 p.m. ET, is his 1916 Western, The Good Bad Man, made the year after Fairbanks first stepped in front of a movie camera. The Good Bad Man is one of the few films that has been restored twice: once in 1923, in a recut version with additional titles and some deleted and altered scenes, and again in 2014, in a clean restoration of the 1923 version. This 1920 Douglas Fairbanks movie was his first swashbuckler, and featured such exciting action sequences, and such a dynamic leading character (and leading man), that Fairbanks shot to the top of the Hollywood ranks. Watch this silent film, 95 years later, and it’s still easy to see why.

Made in 1924, this Douglas Fairbanks film is another epic, iconic showcase of his athletic stunt work and his potent charisma. That’s enough reason to watch – but to see how Hollywood depicted Baghdad, nearly a century ago, is another reason, especially given the geopolitics of the past 40 years or so.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of TV — just look at all those sequels, prequels and spinoff-offs! — but that alone doesn’t explain how Gotham is so good, or how it has managed to stay that way...

Two of the biggest movie stars of their era, at least in terms of intrigue and celebrity appeal, were teamed in this 1967 psychological drama, based on the story by Carson McCullers. Marlon Brando plays an Army officer who fights with his homosexual desires – and fights even more with his domineering, emasculating shrew of a wife. She’s played by Elizabeth Taylor, in a role that, at times completely nude or wielding a riding crop, barely survives the cutting room floor enough to be i

This series is about to present its fall finale, so enjoy Empire while you can. And tonight, enjoy the drama as Lucious and Hakeem take to opposite sides of the family business – using music, and especially lyrics, as the weapon of choice. And elsewhere in the family, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) gets a visit from her sister Candace, played by guest star Vivica A. Fox.

Part 3 of 3. This three-part series, explaining the development of our continent and the plant and animal life that populated it, concludes tonight. If there’s ever a sequel, it probably will measure the effects of global warming and climate change – but I digress. Which, in this case, might be considered a case of continental drift. Check local listings.

In tonight’s episode, renovations on the hotel expose old secrets, and new horrors. Which just goes to show you: never renovate unless you have to. It’s always a horror story.
