Halloween arrives on this show as well, which allows Leslie (Amy Poehler) to dress up as Rosie the Riveter. But as costumes go, I’m even more drawn to guest star Lucy Lawless, who dresses up as a princess – but not the Xena warrior kind.

Writer-Director Patricio Guzmán's 2010 documentary, Nostalgia for the Light, is a paradox of two stories — a wonderous tale etched in the heavens, and the other a tragedy scattered in the rocks and sand of Chile's Atacama Desert...

The Detroit Tigers swept the New York Yankees to get here with ease, and well-rested. The San Francisco Giants had to come back from a two-game deficit to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 to win their pennant, so the two teams have gotten to this 2012 World Series by very different paths. But they’re both here – and for game 1, Detroit ace Justin Verlander takes the mound, with Barry Zito pitching for San Francisco.

Owl be seeing you in all the old familiar places… Tonight’s installment of Nature follows the snowy owl in the Arctic – which, when it snows, is sometimes difficult to do. For a full review, see Eric Gould’s Cold Light Reader. Check local listings.

With Halloween on the horizon, here’s a fun movie to record and set aside for the occasion. Vincent Price, Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff all star in this 1963 low-budget Roger Corman movie, so loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven that it barely counts. But it’s got enough tongue-in-cheek wit, and sly performances, to make you forget it nevermore.

All three families have their own way of celebrating Halloween this year – and given past Halloween episodes for this series, that sounds like three times the delightful insanity.

This second episode of Season 2 continues to stretch the parameters even as it’s establishing the new season’s setting and characters. Just when you think you have a handle on where this series is going, here comes the flashbacks – and, in addition, here comes the exorcist.
