SEASON PREMIERE: Bill Pullman returns as Det. Harry Ambrose for Season 2 of this USA series, and this new season follows the same path as HBO’s Sharp Objects with Amy Adams: Ambrose returns to his home town to investigate a murder involving a child. This time, though, the youngster isn’t the victim, but the accused killer. For full reviews, see Ed Bark's Uncle Barky's Bytes, and David Hinckley's All Along the Watchtower.

Tonight’s continuation of the 10 [INSERT PLURAL NOUN HERE] That Changed America series of PBS specials looks at Homes – everything from a 15th-century Taos pueblo mud-brick community and mid-19th century New York tenement to Frank Lloyd Wright’s still-iconic Fallingwater home (pictured), constructed in 1937 partly atop a waterfall, in Mill Run, PA. So long, Frank Lloyd Wright. I can’t believe your song is gone so soon…  Check local listings.

SERIES PREMIERE: Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman from Parks & Recreation star in this new NBC series, a TV competition devoted to arts and crafts. Leslie Knope, for sure, would have entered this contest. Ron Swanson? Not so likely.

If you’re a film lover, always watch anything that’s presented, and especially hosted, by Martin Scorsese. You can’t go wrong, and this 2007 documentary tribute to filmmaker Val Lewton is a prime example. If you don’t know why you should get excited about the producer of such low-budget horror films as 1942’s Cat People (pictured) and 1945’s The Body Snatcher, Scorsese will explain it all for you.

SEASON FINALE: Last week, Plum (Joy Nash) committed to a new direction by her very  inactions. She refused to kill a man when told to, and also refused to go through with her weight-loss surgery. Tonight, she faces a tribunal to defend herself… but against which case of inertia?

This is one of the Martin Scorsese-directed movies least associated with the work of Scorsese, but this early work, from 1974, is just as unblinking a character study, in its own way, as such much more violent and male-oriented Scorsese movies as Taxi Driver. In Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Ellen Burstyn stars as a woman whose husband dies suddenly, leaving her to care for her young son by taking a job as a waitress in a small Arizona diner. Such subsequently more familiar Scorsese act
