Judy Holliday won a Best Actress Oscar, and deserved it, for her portrayal of a gangster’s ditzy moll who takes private tutoring lessons to lessen her ditz factor. Based on Garson Kanin’s Broadway hit, it’s a riot – as is Broderick Crawford as the tough-guy star of this 1950 comedy.

Last week’s episode showed us a tougher side of Etta (Georgina Haig), a return to Walter’s lab, and another mission to fulfill, thanks to a Betamax tape with a hidden message. (And I thought I was the only source around for Beta tapes these days.)

After the vice presidential debate, it’s time for another new Real Time. Guests this week include Ben Affleck and Ann Coulter – if they’re both seated on the panel, this one could be incendiary.

The New York Yankees delivered a thriller of a postseason game yesterday: after trailing the Baltimore Orioles for the entire game, the Yankees tied it in the bottom of the ninth when Raul Ibanez hit a solo homer – then won the game in the bottom of the 12th when he hit another one. The Yankees now lead the series 2-1, with Game 4 played at 7:30 p.m. ET on TBS. Other games today, and where you can find them: the final-elimination Game 5 of the Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants serie

Tonight’s politically themed new episode, called “Governor Dunston,” features some tantalizing guest stars, including Catherine O’Hara, Matthew Broderick and, especially, a now-dramatic actor returning to his sitcom roots: Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, playing the significant other of Kenneth’s mom (O’Hara).

After the first presidential debate of 2012, in which media pundits overwhelmingly awarded the victory to Mitt Romney over Barack Obama, this one-time-only vice presidential debate looms large. For the Democrats, it’s incumbent Vice President Joe Biden. For the Republicans, it’s Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, in by far his biggest national-profile appearance of the campaign.

Not to be pessimistic, but I suspect the title of this new Adult Swim special will turn to to be a tad inaccurate. Even so, it does feature both Jon Hamm of Mad Men and Adam Scott of Parks and Recreation, so it won’t be the Worst event in television history. I say give it a peek, just for those two guys – and the audacity of the title.
