What a Game 4. A no-hitter from the Los Angeles Dodgers after five innings. A one-run Houston Astros lead after six. A 1-1 tie after seven. And then, in the top of the ninth, a five-run explosion by the Dodgers that the Astros were unable to counter. The 2017 World Series is now tied at 2-2, and guaranteed to go at least six games and return to Dodger Stadium. Tonight. Game 5. What a series.

Want to watch an animated TV special that’s now 51 years old? You should – because this Charles Schulz Halloween special, from 1966, is a close second to his other holiday Peanuts classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas. Both shows, at their heart, are about the purity and power of belief. And even All Hallows Eve’s non-believers and non-participants, and hey, even atheists, should be able to embrace that.

Last week’s Season 8 premiere spent the entire episode unfurling Rick’s new battle plan, and getting it to the point where it was in motion, with vehicles, warriors and the undead all mobilized against Negan and his forces. Tonight, the battle is on – and the episode is called “The Damned.”

SEASON FINALE: This enthralling examination of Times Square corruption and capitalism in the early 1970s concludes for the season tonight, ending on a real-life historical cliffhanger that has Deep Throat descending on 42nd Street – the porn movie, not the Watergate informant. And what happens next? Eventually, we’ll get to see it, because HBO, very astutely, has renewed The Deuce for a second season. So keep your eye on Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Candy, who, clearly, is going places.

SEASON FINALE: This season has been both a heartfelt and heartbreaking one for Ray (Liev Schreiber) and family. More personal losses and conflicts than usual – and on this series, that’s saying an awful lot. But tonight’s episode starts where the series began so many seasons ago, with Ray’s father Mickey, played so boldly by Jon Voight, angling to try to get out of prison.

The fatwa against Larry David continues – but now that he’s out and about in defiance of it, he has other problems, as usual. Like his uncomfortable infatuation with his mail carrier, and his even more uncomfortable dislike of someone, despite his military service.

Last week, Last Week wasn’t on – and though that sounds redundant, it’s not meant to be. At any rate, it, the show, and John, are back tonight. Too bad it’s another slow news week, he types sarcastically. (Has there been a slow news week yet in 2017? I really, truly don’t think so.)

As part of our continuing celebration of Too Funny to Fail, the new Hulu documentary about the rise and flop of the Dana Carvey Show in 1996 (David reviews it here,) now comes the recurring gag “Grandma the Clown” – more primetime anti-comedy from the writing team headed by Louis C.K. and and Robert Smigel...

Until last night, the Houston Astros had never won a World Series game in front of its home crowd – but then beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3, scoring all the runs it needed in the second inning, and holding on from there. Now the Astros have a 2-1 lead in the series, and have home-field advantage for two more games, including the one played tonight.

Dirk’s investigation of his very old cold case is waylaid, or at least steered in a new direction, when Bart pops up, and entices Dirk to take part in her investigation, involving Suzie Boreton. Confused? On this series, you’re pretty much supposed to be. Just go with the existential flow.
