What a captivating golf tournament this has been the first two days, with the potential for being even more exciting today and tomorrow. After two rounds of play, Brandt Snedeker (pictured) has notched a 10-under-par score of 130, matching the lowest 36-hole score at any British Open, and playing bogey-free to this point. And Adam Scott, after two days, is only one stroke behind that astounding pace. And look who, after sinking an amazing birdie from out of a sand trap on the 18th hole yesterday

It’s an all-day marathon of SpongeBob episodes, leading up to a brand new installment at 8 p.m. ET. It’s titled “Extreme Spots,” and that’s not a typo – just an Olympic-timed spoof of extreme sports, with reckless daredevil Johnny Knoxville guest starring as an extremely extreme competitor named Johnny Krill.

I can recommend this special even though there are two obvious drawbacks to it. One is that it restricts itself to NBC’s greatest Olympic moments, an annoyingly jingoistic approach that robs us of all those truly great moments, starting with the “Miracle on Ice,” from the years when ABC provided coverage – or even the more recent CBS days. The other drawback? These 30 moments are voted on by online fans. And online fans skewing younger, that means they’re likely to

This is a really creepy Steven Soderbergh movie, in which screenwriter Scott Z. Burns tracks a deadly disease to an unlikely and elusive Patient Zero. It’s a gripping thriller, and my only criticism is this: How did the scientists’ team of computer experts generate those nifty graphic images so instantly? Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet star. I recommend watching with anti-bacterial wipes close at hand. You’ll thank me later.

This 1944 movie is the one where Humphrey Bogart met and fell in love with Lauren Bacall, off-screen as well as on. Howard Hawks directed, and knew just how to get the best out of his young actress. It’s amazing to realize this was Bacall’s first film, and even more amazing to realize that, at the time, she was 19 years old.

After one day of competition, the name of Tiger Woods is on the first page of the leader board at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. That simple fact means a larger audience for today’s coverage of Round 2, which is televised live in the wee hours of the morning, and replayed at 3 p.m. ET for those who can’t abide the time-zone time shift.

AMC presents a double feature of movies featuring Clint Eastwood’s iconic “Dirty Harry” Callahan. First up: This 1971 titular showcase, followed at 8:15 p.m. ET by 1973’s Magnum Force. Eastwood fans should feel very fortunate, considering what a slow TV night this is. So the question is: Are you an Eastwood fan, and do you feel fortunate? Or, to put it Harry’s way: Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do you?

This weekend’s installment features journalist Chris Hedges, who discusses out-of-the-way places where people are trapped in cycles of endless despair. And I never even was asked to sign a release form. Moyers & Company airs from Friday to Sunday on local public TV stations; to find it in your local area, click HERE.
