Anyone else see the growing irony in this? TV Land is a cable network that replays series that once were huge hits on the broadcast networks -- when those networks knew how to regularly schedule the kinds of shows people just never skipped...But since the June premiere of "Hot in Cleveland," TV Land has escalated the contest several notches...

Lots to cover, so let's dive right in, beginning with more relaunch news. Your reaction to our Extreme Makeover (TV WORTH WATCHING as The Swan?) has been warm, thoughtful and encouraging. I expected nothing less, but thanks just the same. And in that same welcoming spirit, please get in the habit of visiting, and commenting on, our new Contributors blog...

The memories seem funny now. My brothers, my sister and I can't help but laugh every time we relive the days when Uncle Shag would call on us to verify his suspicions about what he saw on TV. That was during the late 1950s and early 1960s in Malvern, Ark. It was an era of visions in black & white from the standpoint of both the picture on TV and the even sharper contrast of the segregated life we lived. It was a time when African Americans were rendered invisible on TV, except in some spars

Enough with the wacky packages! Building a TV DVD library is starting to require building special shelving to hold all the strangely shaped boxes, heavy Lucite containers, enormous hardcover "book" sleeves, and "collectible" packaging of jumbo 3D plastic Bender heads and Cylon helmets...

If you were watching a TV drama about baseball where the batter got a single and ran to third base -- not to first -- and the story made that seem normal, would you wonder if the show's producers knew very much about the sport? Hope not. So don't look for too many factual insights into the country's top court when Outlaw premieres this fall on NBC...

Plainly speaking, New Orleans has never been in very good shape. Poverty, greed, corruption and an overall laissez-faire "Big Easy" malaise have characterized the city since its sale to the U.S. in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase. Then came Hurricane Katrina five summers ago...

Tony Siragusa, TV critic. The Fox analyst turned into one Friday night during a sideline interview with Cincinnati Bengal receivers and new best friends Terrell Owens (shown here) and Chad Ochocinco during the Bengals' 22-9 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles...

If you've been here before, you should already be able to tell, just from first glance, how different things look around here, and how hard we've worked to make "TV WORTH WATCHING: The Next Generation" an even more compelling place to visit for all things related to quality television. And if you're a new visitor, welcome. This is a place where writers and readers who care about, and seek out, excellent TV, come to congregate, debate, and find new things to watch...

Well, I can't begin to tell you how much work is behind us, and how much looms ahead this weekend. But we're close enough for me to announce to you, and dare us here at TV WORTH WATCHING, that we hope to have the long-promised website relaunch up and running by Monday morning...

It's that most wonderful time of the year. Okay, maybe second most wonderful time, behind Christmas. (You know how I am about Christmas.) It's time for the Little League World Series, which has become such a viewing favorite at our house that we forego weekend activities during the final two weeks of the annual youth baseball extravaganza from Williamsport, Pa...
