SERIES PREMIERE: If you have a high-definition, widescreen TV set, consider this required viewing. It’s the latest BBC-Discovery Channel co-production from the makers of Planet Earth, and it’s truly majestic – except for one flaw, which, along with the rest of this visually stunning series, I describe in detail in Bianculli’s Blog HERE. In addition to televising two episodes of this new documentary tonight on its own network, the folks at Discovery are spreading the wealt

Last Sunday, at the same time a major character was meeting his unexpected demise in an episode of The Walking Dead, the same sudden fate was befalling poor Mike Delfino on this series. The episode ended with Mike (James Denton) being shot on his own porch, dying in the arms of loving wife Susan (Teri Hatcher). This week, the aftermath – and other things that, with only a few episodes left in this series, will make most of these housewives more desperate than ever.

There are many guest stars in tonight’s episode, but let’s just give a nod to a favorite one: Michael J. Fox returns for yet another appearance as the crafty attorney Louis Canning, who once again opposes Alicia (Julianna Margulies) in court. And, once again, offers her a job outside of it.

SEASON FINALE: After the previous two episodes, each of which claimed the life of a major character (and turned one of them, Jon Bernthal’s Shane, into a zombie!), who won’t be watching tonight’s season finale? There’s a zombie horde about to hit the farm – and that’s just for starters.

Frozen Planet, the latest nature documentary series co-production between the BBC and Discovery Channel, premieres in the United States with a Sunday night doubleheader that is astoundingly gorgeous. But once again, at the same time Discovery rewards our intelligence by scheduling a nonfiction series this good, it also insults us -- by swapping narrators for American ears...

Great movie, still as creepy as it was when it premiered in 1995. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt play detectives on the trail of a particularly vicious and showy serial killer, who thinks outside the box -- and inside it, too. David Fincher directed, and manages to make the most of every twist, turn and scare. Gwyneth Paltrow co-stars.

Not a great movie – but it’s Saturday night, and it’s slow, and this is the first cable showing of this 2011 comedy starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake as casual friends who decide to have sex together on a regular basis, but keep that part of their relationship casual as well. Guess what happens.

Another great movie. Orson Welles directed, and narrates, this 1942 movie, which is based on the Booth Tarkington novel and stars Joseph Cotton, Anne Baxter and Agnes Moorehead. It’s one of Welles’ most underrated films, but also one of his best. Which is saying something.

Among the guests on tonight’s new installment of Norton’s outrageous talk show: Hugh Grant. Who, if anyone needs reminding, has a history of saying some wild things on TV talk shows.
