Tonight’s triple feature is a memorial salute to the late Neil Simon, and TCM has chosen wisely: Three films, each based on a classic Simon stage comedy, and each captured on film in a different decade, reflecting Simon’s enduring, impressive popularity. At 8 p.m. ET, the tributes begin with the 1968 movie version of The Odd Couple. Then, at 10 p.m. ET, it’s 1977’s The Goodbye Girl – and finally, at midnight ET, from 1993, it’s Lost in Yonkers.

Sean Penn’s handful of small-screen credits have been inconsequential at best, save for perhaps a two-episode guest actor stint on Friends back in 2001. But now here he comes in a big way...

Either then or certainly not now, it’s doubtful anyone ever said this about Leslie Moonves: “He is truly the all-American boy, not only on-camera but off-camera..."...

Given the dumb, insensitive things he’s said of late, the easy way out is to say that Netflix’s Norm Macdonald Has a Show stars a boob who shouldn’t be allowed to have one. Then again, here’s a guy who’s never really expressed himself cogently...

This is NBC’s best current comedy series, by a long shot, and one of the few broadcast TV series right now that competes in quality with the best cable and streaming shows. It returns with its Season 3 premiere Sept. 27, so it’s commendable that NBC, just before the new season begins, is devoting some of its prime time to promoting The Good Place, and repeating episodes from Season 2 so that new and recent converts can get up to speed. Showing four episodes tonight, from 8-10 p.m. ET

DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE: Earlier this year, this documentary about the 1992 Middle East peace talks premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where HBO immediately gobbled it up for TV distribution. The talks between Palestinians and Israelis were held in secrecy in Oslo, took more than 1,000 days, and resulted in a peace accord that is detailed, along with its lengthy and sometimes tense negotiations, in this new film. For a full review, see David Hinckley's All Along the Watchtower.

A quarter-century after they nearly happened, the Oslo Accords have largely become another footnote in the frustrating quest for Arab-Israeli peace in the Middle East...

Ah, it’s Otis. B. Driftwood and company – said company being Fiorello and Tomasso – who combine forces to make this 1935 movie one of the funniest comedies of that or any other decade. It’s because, of course, Tomasso is played by Harpo, Fiorello by Chico, and Driftwood by Groucho, and the Marx Brothers, as they’re known collectively, are as good as it gets. Oh, and the female lead here is Kitty Carlisle, which explained to me, many years after I watched her as a pa
