The Knockout Rounds, in their new incarnation, have been livened considerably. Not only can rival judges steal the losing (but still worthy and promising) competitor in a knockout duel, but the judge who pitted them against each other in the first place, and even selected the winner of the challenge, nonetheless can issue a new lifeline, a Save, and retain them both. Add to that the fact that former Voice winners are brought in, for the first time, as mentors for this round, and you’ve got

The title of tonight’s new episode, which has Liv (Rose McIver) infiltrating a local theater troupe in Seattle, is called, fittingly, “My Really Fair Lady.” Because of the thespian’s brains and personality she’s absorbed for the moment, Liv approaches the theater, and even a sexual harassment seminar, with a passion. By George, she’s got it…

Tonight’s fourth episode features an attack on the ships that leaves no doubt that the crew is battling some sort of supernatural force while icebound and isolated. And the background of this particular terror, and perhaps a way to combat and survive it, comes from local storytellers, the native Inuits.

Yesterday’s round was a thrilling affair, with relative newbie Patrick Reed (pictured) retaining his unexpected lead while holding off a bold run by veteran player Rory McIlroy, who wowed the gallery early by shooting an eagle on an early hole. By the time Saturday’s play was over, Reed had shot an eagle of his own, and then another. They’re walking and playing together in today’s final pair, which should make today’s championship round especially dramatic.

SERIES PREMIERE: This one’s a blast. Based on the novels by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve is a tale of mutual obsession – two characters singularly fascinated by murder, and, eventually, by one another. Jodie Comer plays Villanelle, an assassin who’s a sociopath, traveling across Europe to kill for money, and for the thrill of it. And Sandra Oh, from Grey’s Anatomy and Sideways, plays Eve, a deskbound British agent whose insights into this elusive killer land her a promotion

This is the penultimate episode of the season – and the sooner this story line ends about the war between the survival cities, and especially the fate of Negan, the better. I’m still watching, but very few of the characters are doing anything sensible, or even recognizable, this year.

This series, conversely, is on its best run in years – by painting Carrie (Claire Danes) into a terrible corner, personally as well as professionally, and by having Saul (Mandy Patinkin), as usual, having to deal with the incompetence and untrustworthiness of those around him.
